- Restart Firefox.
- In the top browser tool bar, open FireFTP in the “TOOL” pulldown menu.
- Create a connection from your computer to your cPanl by clicking on “EDIT”.
- Fill in the Account name (YourDomainName.FTP)
- Fill in the Hosting name. Here you can use your FTP name that was given to you when you created your account or just the domain name. (Example: YourDomainName.com or FTP.YourDomainName.com)
- Fill in the Login and Username with the names you use to login into your cPanel.
- Select “OK” to save the information you just filled out.
- Connect your computer to your cPanel by clicking on “Connet” in the FireFTP toolbar.
- If all your information was added correctly, you should see your cPanel information in the right side of the panel apear. If your cPanel information does not appear, now worries! Select “EDIT” in the toolbar and correct the information which was incorrect.
Move the Plugins into your Wordpress Blog
- Once you have connected your computer to your cPanel, it is time to transfer the Plugins into your blog.
- Click on public_html, this will bring up all the domains you have hosted on this account.
- Double Click on the domain you are transferring the plugins to.
- Click on the “wp-content” folder.
- Next click on the “plugins” folder. You should see a few plugins already in this folder.
- Select all the plugins in the folder on your computer.
- Goto the left side of the panel (your computer).
- Highlight the first plugin by single clicking on it.
- Select all of the plugin files in that folder by then scrolling to the bottom of the folder and while holding the shift key, single click on the last plugin file. This should highlight all the plugin files in that folder.
- If you are unable to select all the files, no worries! just move each file over individually.
- Double check to make sure the folder on the cpanel side (the right side) has the plugin folder highlighted. This will ensure that you are moving the plugins into that folder. If you accidentally move the plugins into another folder, you can delete them, but make sure you delete ONLY the plugin files. You can screw up your blog if you delete files that are already installed. I suggest you just leave them if you are unsure.
- Click on the arrow in the middle of the two panel which points in the direction you want to move the files. In this case, we are moving files from the computer (left) to the cPanel (right). So click on the arrow pointing to the right=>
- This process can take a few minutes, so relax!
- The transfer is complete when there is no more activity on the bottom panel. You can now locate the plugins in the Plugin section of your site’s dashboard.
NOTE: Although you can often install plugins via the upload and extract in your cPanel or your blog dashboard, we suggest you use FTP to transfer your Plugins into your cPanel
